The process of competing for membership on The Dickinsonian board is explained, and the types of submissions wanted are described.  Training in oratory is lauded.   Participation in YMCA is encouraged.  The editors respond to the Lutheran Church's condemnation of college's "senseless infatuation for so brutal a species of sport," football.  Phi Kappa Psi takes their annual fraternity ride to Mount Holly Springs and Boiling Springs.  Sigma Alpha Epsilon visit the Gettysburg battlefield.  Deans and officers of the classes are selected.  Dr.

Joseph Priestley Day and the Priestley Award are created. Student demonstration results in student-faculty-administration meeting that determines to improve the class dean system and create a student-faculty committee to make recommendations on cultural activities. International Relations Club holds auction to benefit tuberculosis sanitarium near Tokyo. Profile of Professor Horace E. Rogers. Basketball season ends with no Dickinson wins.

Dickinsonian, April 24, 1948

The college's 175 anniversary celebration begins. Attorney General of the United States, Tom Clark, gives an address stressing the importance of both a strong education system and military for creating lasting peace. President William Edel addresses alumni, expressing a commitment to making Dickinson the "best small college possible" by expanding facilities and asking for $750,000 in donations to make this possible. Dickinson confers 10 honorary degrees to prominent guests. Sixteen floats from college organizations participate in a historical parade.
