Students perform demonstration in the HUB to protest exclusivity. Students gather in ATS to watch vice-presedential debate between Tim Kaine and Mike Pence. Professor Lothar Probst from University of Breman, Germany, presents Clarke Forum lecture on the rise of populism in Germany and the United States during the election season. The Popel Shaw Center holds its first Interracial Mixer at Landis House to discuss racism, ethnic stereotypes, and ethnic erasure.

Students parade in midnight march after football victory over Penn State; police resort to tear gas. Annual college picnic is held. German club plans activities, including hike modeled after German youth movement. Tribunal convicts two freshmen of breaking freshman rules, gives punishments. Joseph Priestley Day and the Priestley Award are created. Student demonstration results in student-faculty-administration meeting that determines to improve the class dean system and create a student-faculty committee to make recommendations on cultural activities. International Relations Club holds auction to benefit tuberculosis sanitarium near Tokyo. Profile of Professor Horace E. Rogers. Basketball season ends with no Dickinson wins.

Dickinsonian, March 1, 1990

The nationwide, student-organized "Land Use in Our Backyard March" in Harrisburg attracts 400 demonstrators with 100 coming from Dickinson College. Lumberyard closes for repairs after bathroom is vandalized during Mardi Gras party. SASC proposes new description of relationship between College and student organizations, Open Forum to be held to discuss the changes. Committee works toward a campus-wide plan to improve and upgrade facilities for disabled students. Several campus groups sponsor Multicultural Fair/Black Arts Festival, opening with keynote speaker Dr. Manning Marable.

Several campus groups endorse nationwide student environmental demonstration, Dickinson students to join PA section at the State Capitol building in Harrisburg. Housing Board holds information session to outline changes in the special interest housing application process. Library's AV room renovated. Harmut Mechtel, founding member of the largest opposition group in East Germany speaks in Memorial Hall.

Approximately 20 Dickinson Students join thousands of others from across the country in Washington, D.C. to participate in a march and rally to generate voter support for the homeless in the United States. Trustees to convene at regular meeting, Select Committee Report to be heavily discussed. Memorial service held for freshman Steven Butterworth. Feature article on Professor Olmstead, winner of the John Simon Gugenheim award. Musician Danny McCarthy performs at Coffeehouse for his second appearance at Dickinson.
