Mohler Scientific Club organizes and elects officers. An optional course in music has begun and is offerred to all students of the college. Phi Kappa Sigma holds an anniversary hay ride to doubling gap. Men of West College hold a banquet held in the Y.M.C.A. reading room. Essay on Ralph Waldo Emerson's views of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

Dickinsonian, October 5, 1910

Dickinson beat by Carlisle Indians in footbal.  Law School opens for the semester.  Delta Chi holds a smoker.  Lack of encouragement for debating and public speaking on campus. Third and Second Section hold their annual late night "feeds".  Harrisburg lawyer Mr. Loeser, Esq. gives lecture on "The Loan Shark."  Green Freshmen caps delivered and widely worn on campus.  The Freshmen class elects officers.

Business manager of the 1911 Microcosm, C. Leroy Cleaver, announces impressive balance in accounts.  "Songs of Dickinson" songbook compiled by Ben Hinchman, '05, with 117 songs, available for purchase.  All students made subscribers to Dickinsonian.  Prizes for best literary contributions announced, sponsored by local businesses.  Mr.

Doctor Reed gives year opening address.  German professor Dr. Prettyman to take a year off for study and travel.  Ladies of the class of 1913 host informal reception for the Sophomore men in Assembly Hall.  First meeting of Student Assembly held in Bosler Hall, addressed by Dr. Reed.  Plan to add subscription to The Dickinsonian to all students' bill proposed by President Clarkson and passed.  Sophomores successfully hang their poster, after a scrap with Freshmen.  Samuel Brown to temporarily replace Dr.
