Dr. Arthur Vaughn Bishop is awarded the A.J. Clarke Chair of Classical Languages and Literature. The annual Hornbook will be published by the Belles Lettres Literary Society in December. Professor Alfred Haas of Drew Theological Seminary will visit campus at the end of November. New course in Advanced Accounting Analysis added to the College's course offereings. Dean Dr. William Tyler returns to campus after conducting classes elsewhere worldwide. Professor Whitfield Bell, Jr., presented a paper on Early America in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Cultural Affairs Committee announces the arrangement of three musical events to take place in Bosler Hall in the future. The Little Theater production fo "Beggar on Horeback" will be the first arena type play at Dickinson. The Department of Political Science announces sponsored trip for mid-November to the new United Nations Headquarters on the East River.

A series of sixteen worship services featuring the preaching of outstanding American clergymen and entitled "Religion in Today's World" will be presented by the College this term during chapel. Three teams remain undefeated in the Inter-Fraternity football league. The Dickinson Football team defeats Allegheny College.

Approximately 120 students are enrolled for the summer session. the 1942 Microcosm comes out on time. Six high school seniors are awarded Trustee scholarships. Dean Vuilleumier heads Carlisle's Gas Defense Squad, a part of the Office for Civilian Defense. Two Dickinson graduates will face each other in the Congressional race in Wilke-Barre and the winner of this election will succeed another Dickinsonian. Six Dickinson students enlist in the US Naval Air Corps Reserve and will begin to form the Dickinson unit under the "V-5" program.
