The Priestley Award was given to Harvard Professor of Physics and History of Science, Gerald Holton. Former director of Dining Services, Nick Stamos, is appointed Associate Treasurer for Support Operations, which oversees many of the auxiliary services in the college community. A new payroll system has been put into practice, which wires money electronically into students accounts. Unfortunately, with this new system, some students lost several checks in the process.

Dickinsonian, March 10, 1983

Construction on a new wall along high street in front of the Weiss Arts Center begins, and is met with much student opposition. COPUS sponsored an information session on Thursday, February 24th, to help students better understand their options regarding financial aid. The Weiss Center for Arts was recently flooded, but damage to the center was minimal, and faculty members continued to be optimistic about the new arts center. At the University of Denver, students convinced administrators to raise student fees so that the administration could provide better student services.

UTS, a phone service on campus, has been charging students unbeknownst to them for calls because the company was going through "reorganization problems." Professors Sharon O'Brien and Charles Barone were vociferous in their complaints against a proposed itinerary for a planned visit by Attorney General Edwin Meese III. The College plans on building a new wall along High Street to eliminate hazardous crossings. A symposium is planned to celebrate Tome's centennial.

Dickinsonian, July 31, 1975

The school will throw its first annual McKenney Cotillion all-college party for summer school students. Nancy L. Winkleman is appointed director of publications and is the first woman named to that position. The first step in renovations of the dining hall begin with the laying of new carpeting. President Banks will address senior officers at the U.S. Army War College as the first guest lecturer of the year.
