Durell, Fletcher

Dr. Lippincott leaves Dickinson to become Chancellor of Kansas State University, and two new professors, Professor Durell and Dr. Rittenhouse, join the college's staff.  The sophomore baseball team beats the junior team.  An inter-society debate between the Union Philosophical Society and the Belles Lettres Society is planned.The Board of Trustees votes to construct a new Scientific Building between East and West College.

Dickinson is represented at a YMCA Convention in Allentown.  The Glee Club begins planning for concerts.

The editors comment on compulsory attendance at the Day of Prayer, and the faculty's role in encouraging and participating in Christian activities.  The chapter hall of Beta Theta Pi is moved from the Bosler building to the McLaughlin building.  The Orchestra and Octette give a concert in the Opera House, and travel to Chambersburg and Shippensburg to give two more.  Professor Durell publishes a series of articles on the "Application of the New Education to the Differential and Integral Calculus" in the American Mathematical Monthly.  The Athletic Association el

The College Quartette returns from a trip through Central Pennsylvania.  The Carlisle Indian School holds commencement ceremonies despite a measle epidemic.  Former professor of mathematics and astronomy Dr. Fletcher Durell lectures on "the sun" for the benefit of the Athletic Association.
