The Glee and Mandolin Clubs return after a tour comprised of ten concerts in three different states. President Reed requests submissions for a new college song. The writer of the song deemed the best will receive a prize. The Philadelphia Alumni Association holds its annual banquet, electing new officers and listening to a presentation regarding the glory of Dickinson. The New Jersey Alumni Association also holds their annual banquet, an event similar to that of the Philadelphia Alumni Association.

The Athletic Association selects members for the baseball team.  The Union Philosophical Society Sophomore Contest is held.  The Union Philosophical Society purchases new books for their collection.  The Belles Lettres Society begins a revision of their constitution.  Alumni hold a reunion in Philadelphia.  The seniors go on their Class Ride.  Dickinson's baseball team plays Hagerstown in the first match of the season.

Dickinsonian, March 1884

Students are critical of the revival meetings occurring amongst the townsfolk of Carlisle.  The Belles Lettres Society holds its 98th anniversary.  Four freshman form the Beta Sigma Chi Society for the purpose of studying literary culture.  The Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies decide to both hold sophomore contests.  The Dickinson College Athletic Association is formed.

Dunkleberger, class of 1906, marries in India while serving as a Missionary. Alumni Gatherings to take place in New York City and Bloomsburg, PA. President Reed and Mrs. Reed host evening gathering of the senior class. Old-time fair held in the Gymnasium for the benefit of the Athletic Assiciation. Comul Club dance rescheduled in observance of Lent.

Dickinsonian, October 1889

The Athletic Association constructs a new constitution that allows it to hold property and protects its rights and privileges. Over the summer there were several improvements made to the college buildings and grounds. Students are urged to patronize those businesses that advertise in The Dickinsonian. This year’s freshman class includes seven women. The Belles Lettres Society, the Union Philosophical Society, the freshman class elect officers. An article defends the merits of American football and talks about this year’s football team.

The formation of the Inter-Collegiate Athletic Association of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Inter-Collegiate Baseball Association give Dickinson students access to larger fields of play and more opponents.  Efforts to produce a Microcosm cease.  The Athletic Association decides to reject recognition of the separate teams created by the pro- and anti- co-education factions in the Freshman class, and the idea of a combined team is also rejected.  An underground co-education group is created, with rumors that it is named The Dickinson College Co-Ed Woman's Rights Association

Professors Super and Morgan are added to the staff at Dickinson.  A field is donated to the college for student athletics.  Class spirit sags as Freshman avoid traditional hazing and fraternities pit members of the same class against each other.  The Union Philosophical Society decides that it will not admit women.  A cricket club is formed.  The builder for the Bosler Memorial Library Hall is selected.

The 124th year of Dickinson's history is entered upon, welcoming large classes into all of its departments.  The Athletic Association holds team manager and vice presidential elections.  Professor Leon C. Prince publishes A Bird's Eye View of American History, a new U.S. history book.  In its second year of being, Dickinson College's Pan Hellenic Association adopts rules regarding Greek life recruitment.  The YMCA holds its annual reception in Chapel Hall.
