Dr. A Victor Murray, President of Chesnut College, Cambridge, England, receives an honorary degree. Tom Carey elected as the Editor-in-Chief of the Microcosm. Professor J. The Mermaid Players announce their next production. "Our Town" will be performed December 1, 2 and 3 in Bosler Hall. The Aquatic Club is performing later this evening their interpretation of popular children's stories. The entire production is student produced from scenery and lights to costumes and publicity. The Alumni Council agreed to take action on athletic policies as requested by students in the previous issue of the Dickinsonian with the support of the Board of Trustees.

Rush ends and 126 freshmen men pledge fraternities including Alpha Chi Rho, Beta Theta Pi, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Epsilon Pi, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Kappa Sigma, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi and Theta Chi. The Dickinson Law School begins to require all applicants for admission to take the Law School Admissions Test. The annual trip to the UN is scheduled for October 17 and 18 which will allow students to attend a General Assembly session. A new Methodist church is being built on Benjamin Rush Campus. Parents' Day will be observed on October 16.

Head Football Coach Ralph Ricker resigns his position to take a job at Lebanon Valley College. The Mermaid Players' third production of the season, The Tempest, opens at Metzger Hall. Jane Lehmer, member of the Debate Team, is named "Gavel Girl of Pennsylvania" at the annual all-state debate competition. The weather vane stolen from South College is returned.

The Red Devils football team defeats Johns Hopkins 20-13 in the (somewhat rainy) Homecoming game, ending their season with a five-game winning streak. An estimated 4,000 spectators watched the game, and Homecoming Weekend is declared an overall success. Contemporary British poet Stephen Spender will visit campus on November 22. A performance by interpretive dancer Martha Graham is announced and scheduled for December 6. Sigma Alpha Epsilon is awarded first prize for its 3-D sculpture of a devil's head in the traditional inter-fraternity Homecoming display contest.

Lumberyard party attracts over 200 people, minors served alcohol but Committee says the problem has been corrected. Career center acquires new computerized system. Ralph Nader to be keynote speaker at the College's 26th annual Public Affairs Symposium. Czech choir to perform at Dickinson, first European musical ensemble to perform on campus. The basketball season, expected to be particularly challenging, opens at home against Elizabethtown. A representative from the World Student Service Fund gives a presentation on conditions in post-war Europe in preparation for the annual Campus Chest drive. An editorial by senator James E. Murray appears on the high cost of medical care and proposed legislation regarding solutions. Dickinson wins its final football game of the season against Washington and Jefferson.

Dickinson holds its first Parent's Day, including a football game against Drexel and a faculty reception. The creation of a student-led honor system is discussed to mostly positive reactions. In Student Senate elections, Laura Spindler was elected as President,  Alex Don Konics was elected as Vice President, and Mike Donnelly was elected as Treasurer.   This election was significant because it was the first time that each Executive Office of the Student Senate was expanded to last for two full school years, so that officers served during their Junior and Senior years.
