Dickinsonian, October 23, 1930

Plans for Homecoming, November 15, are underway. Two recent Dickinson graduates, John Pipa and Robert Forney, take part in local politics, running for positions in Northumberland County. The freshman class revolts against the class rules system, violating every rule but wearing the dink. This is in reaction to the disciplinary actions taken by the Tribunal in the past weeks, including hair-cuttings in the week previous. The freshmen make a list of demands and send it to the Tribunal however, all of their requests are denied by student government.

Students unaware of option for breath analyzer tests administered by Department of Public Safety. Dickinson Speech and Debate Team holds second annual Red Devil Speech and Debate Tournament. ROTC attends Field Training Exercise for Blue Mountain Battalion. Dickinson eliminates community experience graduation requirement. Dickinson College Television announces new show, "On Second Thought". Student discusses food disposal policy of cafeteria; Dickinson Garden uses cafeteria scraps for compost. In this edition, off-campus study is becoming explored by students in Bologna, Colombia, I.E.S., India, Appalachia, Israel, THUS, Washington D.C. And CPC. Students brainstorm ideas to attract more people to the K.W. Round room coffeehouse. Students are also investigating food waste in the cafeteria and determining ways to reduce the amount through research. The Social Committee was unable to account for $1,100 in funds from the Hot Tuna concert in November and an investigation is ensuing. The May Morris room in the library now houses rare books, manuscripts and the College archives.
