Heads for the YMCA program are chosen.  Nisbet Day is planned for May 1.  An annual tug-of-war between freshmen and sophomores is to be held on May 3.  The track and tennis seasons are underway.  The baseball team loses against Syracuse and Franklin & Marshall.  Interest in participation in summer military camps grows on campus, as a program of the Military Training Camps Association of the United States.

The Dickinson Debate Team wins against F&M, but loses against Penn State. The YMCA elects new officers. The Sigma Chi fraternity held their annual winter dance in Metzger Hall. A new German fraternity, Das Goethe Kranzchen, is an object of some mystery. The faculty create the Students Intermediary Committee to bring students' concerns to their attention; Mills '91, Lewis '91, Neal '91, Fasick '92, Stephens '92, Wooden '93, and Morgan '94 are elected. Harrisburg District of the YMCA holds convention in Carlisle. Glee and Banjo Clubs take performance trip. Seniors win a highly competitive game of baseball against the freshmen.

The Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Society elect officers for the coming year.  The Union Philosophical Society holds its centennial anniversary.  A call is made for the creation of an athletic field for the students.  Some Dickinson students win a tug-of-war contest put on by the Chambersburg YMCA.  The college’s fraternities hold tennis tournaments.

Dickinsonian, October 1893

The editors write on starting the new year off well and liberal education.  Rev. Robert W. Rogers, English Bible Chair, leaves Dickinson.  His courses are to be distributed among other professors, and so the editors propose establishing a Chair of History to fill his place.  Seventy-five freshmen matriculate.   The YMCA holds its annual reception for the whole college to start the academic year in Chapel Hall.

Dickinsonian, March 5, 1898

Rev. Dr. James P. Wright gives a lecture on "The Philosophy of Success."  The 30th annual Keystone YMCA convention is held in York.  The Dickinsonian cites an article from the Philadelphia Ledger, backed by the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, to forbid liquor imbibement on campus, lest the college be boycotted.

The Athletic Association holds a general meeting during which Article XXIII is ratified, determining when teams will choose managers.  Former Dickinson professors attend a Methodist Congress in Pittsburgh.  The Oriental Troubadours perform a concert under the auspices of the YMCA in Bosler Hall.

The Honorable Theo. G. Knauff gives an illustrated lecture to the campus on Mexico.  John Herman Bosler, member of the class of 1858 and trustee, dies.  The Oriental Troubadours to give a concert in Bosler Hall, sponsored by the YMCA.

Dickinsonian, November 6, 1897

Professor Marcus D. Buell of the Boston Theological Seminary addresses the YMCA.  James Young performs some dramatic selections for the campus.  The Orchestra and Glee Club prepare for their upcoming concert.  Dr. Reed is confined to bed with illness.  The establishment of Founer's Day celebrations are still discussed, although no definitive plans have been made.  A holiday on the Friday after Thanksgiving is requested.  Money is collected to purchase a Great Dane to serve as the school's mascot.
