The Dickinsonian is ranked the second oldest college newspaper in the state. Dickinson offers a summer engineering course for recent high school graduates not entering college this fall. This is part of the federal government’s defense training plan. The points and hours system for extra-curricular activities, as well as the required activities and limits on activities for those in good academic standing, are eliminated and Student Senate reorganizes itself to govern under this new system.

The school will throw its first annual McKenney Cotillion all-college party for summer school students. Nancy L. Students have mixed feelings on the large number of "outsiders" studying on campus this summer; specifically from the international auditing and accounting firm. Summer enrollment is up, however the housing experiment fails as off-campus housing rises. Many College support personnel remain unhappy with the overtime wages received for Commencement weekend. The Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra will play at the College. The Auxiliary Enterprises Committee (AEX) presents a statement to Senate to close the dining hall to non-boarding students in an effort to lessen stealing of food. In their most recent meeting, faculty debates and questions the search committee for new president of the College. The Office of Student Services and the Counseling Center announce a career workshop for women that is planned. The College hosted the First Annual Dickinson College Debate Debacle, which was won by Wesleyan College.

The Student Senate unanimously reaffirms it stand for a unicameral all-College legislative body. Faculty approves two Consortium programs which will make study possible at the Mysore Institute through programs at the India Institute as well as in Harrisburg for the Harrisburg Urban Semester. WDCV's resolution to operate an FM station is presented through the Development and Communications Committee and endorsed by the Board of Trustees. A list of courses to be offered in summer school will be distributed.

Student Senate defeats a resolution to limit spending on the annual Christmas Dinner. The student store The Common Exchange is set to open. East College will house the humanities departments starting the next semester. Students will be traveling to Africa to volunteer with Operation Crossroads Africa. Students respond positively to the Night Owl program. The U.S. Senate will vote on a bill to make cars pollution free by 1975. Several projects by the Interior Department's Federal Water Quality Administration are underway to develop programs to recycle water.

The Student Senate holds its first meeting of the year with much discussion of dorm autonomy. The Student Mobilization Committee the end the War in Vietnam had its first meeting. The IFC has now become the Presidents' Council to meet a modern need. The All-College Committee on Fraternities was dissolved. An outline of the Student Senate's plans for the upcoming year are discussed. The first session of summer transition was held. Students failed in a test of self-regulation over summer school.
