Baseball plays against Carlisle Indian School. Debates about the validity of the honor system take shape within the pages of the editorial section.  A chapter of the Delta Chi Law Fraternity is founded at the Law School.  Dickinson wins one game and loses one game of chess with Bucknell.  The Belles Lettres Society holds elections.  Improvements are made to the athletic fields.

Dickinson defeats Swarthmore in debate, the Carlisle Indian School Band is a great success at the Opera House, and Pi Beta Phi is officially established at Dickinson with 15 members.

Dickinson defeats the Carlisle Indians in baseball.The annual baseball game between the Freshman and Sophomore classes is held. Tea party for women of the Hall on Pomfret street. Belles Lettres Sophomore oratorical contest occurs in Bosler Hall. Professor T. A. Schurr comes to Carlisle to lecture students and visit the Carlisle Indian School.

Carlisle Indians defeat Dickinson in baseball. Dickinson is defeated by State College in the state track meet. The 1900 Microcosm becomes available to students. Article on the career of Dr. Price. Phi Kappa Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi, Beta Theta Pi, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Omega Alpha Iota all hold banquets during commencement week.

Dickinsonian, March 27, 1897

General John Eaton greets a full house for his talk on "Personal Memories of Lincoln and Grant" at the Carlisle Indian School Commencement ceremonies.  Furthermore, those in attendance listened to the translated words of chiefs Antonio Apache and Sassy Chief.  A lecture is given in Bosler Hall on missions in India and Ceylon (Sri Lanka) by Rev. Geo. W. Leitch.

The College Quartette returns from a trip through Central Pennsylvania.  The Carlisle Indian School holds commencement ceremonies despite a measle epidemic.  Former professor of mathematics and astronomy Dr. Fletcher Durell lectures on "the sun" for the benefit of the Athletic Association.

General John Eaton and Captain Richard Pratt addressed the student body, the former remarking on the recognition of God in public services.  Phi Kappa Psi celebrates St. Valentine's Day by hosting a reception.  The ladies of the Smalley Concert Company put on a stirring performance.

Professors Morris W. Prince and John F. Mohler join the faculty. The YWCA and YMCA hold a reception to welcome the new students. Separate Weekly Dickinsonian and monthly Dickinsonian publications planned for the year. New Bible study courses announced. The freshmen elect officers, adopt a constitution, and chose their colors. From The Indian Helper comes news of $2,000 worth of damage from a recent storm and the results of a recent census of students at the Carlisle Indian School.
