Schedule for commencement activities is published. The committee for organizing Class Day is chosen. Seniors R. M. Parker, R. B. Weaver, and W. C. Gross lecture to Scientific Society. Literary societies plan sophomore contests. G. W. Miller, J. A. H. Barnitz, A. R. Bender, and Ed. Hilton are elected Dickinsonian editors. Baseball club is formed with C. W. Emmerich as president.

Union Philosophical Society faces turmoil over attempt to charge debaters to have their names engraved on invitations. G. W. Miller, J. A. Barnitz, and C. W. Emmerich become new leaders of Belles Lettres Society. The college and ministers from town engage in a day of prayer for colleges.

The need for secular books in the college’s reading room is discussed. Alumni in Philadelphia move for the creation of a national alumni association, the American Alumni Association. The Union Philosophical Society abolishes customary invitations to their annual banquet. The story of President Jesse T. Peck’s brief stay in an insane asylum is recounted.

Dickinsonian, October 6, 1874

The College Regatta is discussed, and its benefits debated. The Dickinsonian announces the possible institution of a law course into the curriculum. The death of the valedictorian of 1874 in memorialized, with special inserts by the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Union Philosophical Society. President McCauley returns from the British Wesleyan Conference to fanfare from the Carlisle Band.

The Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies abolish their initiation fees.  The Belles Lettres Sophomore Contest  and Union Philosophical Society Sophomore Contest are held.  A group of undergraduate students steal from a senior reception two freezers full of ice cream.  Students visit Gettysburg Battlefield on Decoration Day.  The second annual Field Day of the State Inter-Collegiate Athletic Association of Pennsylvania is held.  Dickinson ties Pennsylvania College at Gettysburg in baseball.

Dickinsonian, June 1885

Complaints are aired about the random nature of the oratorical awards given by the Literary societies.  The Sophomores beat the Freshmen in baseball 53 to 4.  The Belles Lettres Society holds its annual Sophomore Contest, as does the Union Philosophical Society.  Baseball games are rained out.

A committee of Union Philosophical Society and Belles Lettres Society members is formed to revise the "Joint Rules" for using the libraries.  The Dickinsonian defends its existence in the wake of complaints from students.  Seniors begin competitions for the Scientific Society prize.  Baseball games abound between picked teams, Carlisle teams, and class teams.

Dickinsonian, February 1885

The bowling alleys are the most popular part of the new gymnasium.  Interest forms over the Inter-Collegiate Mock Trial, and in preparation the Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies decide not to hold anniversaries.  The sophomores hold a class supper.

Professors Super and Morgan are added to the staff at Dickinson.  A field is donated to the college for student athletics.  Class spirit sags as Freshman avoid traditional hazing and fraternities pit members of the same class against each other.  The Union Philosophical Society decides that it will not admit women.  A cricket club is formed.  The builder for the Bosler Memorial Library Hall is selected.

Dickinsonian, March 20, 1907

The Union Philosophical Society emerges victorious against the Belles Lettres Society in the Annual Inter-Society Debate.  The Combined Musical Clubs deliver an excellent program at Shippensburg, with Director John Craig King producing an exceptional Mandolin Club.  Phi Delta Theta celebrates a fraternal Alumni Day with a banquet.

The annual inter-society debate between the Belles Lettres Society and Union Philosophical Society is set to take place.  Dickinson's YMCA invite S.M. Sayford to speak to all "Christian men of the college."  Dances are held by Phi Kappa Psi and the Comus Club.

"On a slippery field" Dickinson loses to State by one touchdown, 6-0.  Dr. C.T. Winchester of Wesleyan University gives the first lecture of the Civic Club course in the opera house.  Members of the Union Philosophical and Belles Lettres literary societies choose question and candidate for the Inter-Society Debate.

Annual Mid-Winter Sports event is held.  L. Wellington Johnson, Elmer L. Williams and Frank P. Fleegal of the Union Philosophical Society defeat Thomas J. Towers, George L. Reed and George E. Mark of Belles Lettres in the annual inter-society debate on a question of arbitration in strikes.  The Dickinson Library Guild petitions the Board of Trustees for approval of its existence and work.  Union Philosophical Society elects officers.
