Belles Lettres is victorious in the Annual Founder's Day contest. Student Senate elections are postponed to address the issues that the Senate's current composition of nine fraternity men to five Commons' Club men will remain. Robert H. Duffy will be assisting Coach Johnson with the football team this coming season. Prof. Prince continues his campaign for a seat in Congress.

Dickinsonian, May 1, 1926

The Dickinson Relay team takes second at the Middle Atlantic Class B College Championship. Nominations are made for Student Senate. Sophomores win the annual tug-of-war, pulling the freshman into LeTort Spring. A celebration of Founder's Day and May Day is planed for May 13th. The festivities will close with a contest between Belles Lettres and the Union Philosophical Society consisting of an original oration, a debate, an impromptu, and a humorous selection. Plans for freshman entertainment in the fall are accepted by the Interfraternity Council. Offices are announced for the Y.W.C.A.

Despite cold weather, the Annual College Picnic is a great success. The Belles Lettres Society received a letter from well-known minister and author Henry Van Dyke. The Interfraternity Scholarship Cup is presented to Phi Kappa Sigma. A meeting of the Interfraternity Council rejects the proposed arrangements for first year / fraternity interactions. A more moderate proposal calls for a series of gatherings in the college gymnasium where freshman will be the guests of fraternities. A novice tennis tournament is held to discover talent for next season's team.

The track team defeats Lehigh 71 to 55 in its opening match of the season. The Freshman baseball team defeats the Sophomores, thus revoking the "girl rule." Belles Lettres defeats UPS in the groups' intersociety informal debate and speech contest. Small improvements are made to college buildings, including painting and landscaping. Dickinson faculty compile a reading list of 50 influential and interesting books.The 1925 Microcosm yearbook is copyrighted. The Press Club reorganizes with intention to be active during the next academic year.

The Dramatic Club's production of Clarence debuts. Belles Lettres and UPS plan a contest to include informal debates and speeches. A survey of the most popular names among Dickinson students appears. The Alumni Council requests the cooperation of undergraduate students for the preparation of banquets and commencement activities for alumni due to overwhelming interest. Professor Leon C. Prince begins actively campaigning for the Republican party nomination for Congress after announcing his candidacy a week prior.

Traveler/self-educated savant/newsboy/bum Samuel H. "King" Cole passes through campus to collect autographs to add to his fifty-volume set of the people he meets, which includes Neville Chamberlain, King George VI, and President F.D. Roosevelt. Colonel Philip Mathews, supervisor of the Works Progress Association, is announced as speaker at the annual Union Philosophical Society banquet. Edgar Washabaugh, one of the ten students training in personal flight with the Civil Aeronautics Authority, is the first of that group to fly solo across the country.

George S. Williams '00, Delaware's lone Congressional Representative, speaks in chapel for Homecoming Weekend. Members of the Dickinsonian editorial staff travel to Lewisburg for a conference of the Intercollegiate Newspaper Association, of which current editor-in-chief Paul Gorsuch '40 is president. Union Philosophical Society reverses their previous decision and accepts Belles Lettres' invitation for an inter-society debate. The Mermaid is returned, and President Fred P. Corson announces that it will move to the Tome Scientific Building, replaced by a replica on top of Old West.

The Bobolino Group Theatre performs "Candida" to an audience of 200 in Denny Hall. Union Philosophical Society rejects Belles Lettres' invitation for an inter-society debate and appoints Professor Wellman J. Warner as its new adviser. Chinese student I-Ying Li finally arrives on campus after significant problems leaving his home country due to war activity. The football team loses their first game of the season to Washington and Jefferson, after going four games undefeated.
