The seventh annual Guest Day for prospective students gets underway. A group of pranksters locks the only door to Bosler Hall (then under construction) while seven people, including College Dean Ernest Vuilleumier, are inside, forcing them to climb through the rubble in the back of the building. Howard Williams, captain of the basketball team, is awarded the Phi Epsilon Pi Most Valuable Player trophy.

Student committee on social affairs and the faculty social committee to change organization of social functions. About 25 students plan to go to Washington, D.C. for Franklin Roosevelt's presidential inauguration. Junior class votes to have Microcosm dedicated to Mr. Malcolm, the college's treasurer and superintendent of the grounds and buildings. Plans for students to go to a performance of one of Wagner's operas commence. Metzger Hall gets brighter lights by request of its residents. President Waugh proposes changes to the curriculum, which the faculty will vote on soon.

The football team finds a new coach who signs a three year contract. Founders' Day celebrations begin this day. The senior picnic is planned for the following Monday where many athletic events will take place. Two men's literary societies, Belles Lettres and the Union Philosophical Society, see their organizations losing membership and seek aid from the college administration to keep their clubs alive. The Jewish fraternities gain representation in Senate.

The Dickinsonian accepts ten new staff writers, roughly one-third of the applicants. The Jewish Religious Association organizes three chapel programs, as well as biweekly meetings, emulating activities of the Protestant and Catholic groups on campus. The Dickinson Players' production of The Goose Hangs High opens in Bosler Hall. Phi Epsilon Pi pledges hold an unusual, yet popular informal dance, the theme of which was "vacation" in honor of the upcoming holiday recess.

Five Dickinson fraternities participated in the annual Red Cross Drive of Carlisle, collecting money for the organization. The Communications Committee had it first meeting to discuss campus issues including the College's gift to the Allison Methodist Church, the Student Activities Building and accuracy of reports in the Dickinsonian. Following a vote by Student Senate, a committee will be created to be involved in plans for the proposed Student Center.

The Dickinson Law School begins to require all applicants for admission to take the Law School Admissions Test. Three fraternities, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Epsilon Pi volunteered to be relocated due to overenrollment at the College and state that it has not had a negative effect on fraternity life. The Student Senate Priorities Committee unanimously recommended that a student organization office be created inside the HUB and after the Senate's approval, administrative approval is then needed. The idea of an honor code is being analyzed by the Academic Affairs Committee. Women's volleyball earned themselves a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference tournament.

Michael Kammen is to speak at College's celebration of the national bicentennial. Controversy between Phi Epsilon Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternities climax with three brothers of the former spreading excrement around the door of a brother of the latter. At the Founders Convocation of the College's 200th Anniversary, Sen. Richard Schweiker delivers an address praising the College's educational tradition. Planning and details of freshman orientation for the class of 1970 are discussed. Propositions for changes in the fraternity rush system are outlined and await faculty approval. Faculty postpone their vote on abolishing SFJC (Student-Faculty Judicial Council) in favor of an all faculty council. Dickinson will have its first sponsored Rally.
