Dave Robertson has been hired as the new director of the new Weiss Center for the Arts. A questionnaire was released by the Office of Admissions aimed at alumni about the value of a liberal arts education had positive results. An article comments upon college romances and their success or not. Men's Cross Country takes 9th place and Women's Cross Country takes 3rd place at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship.

Athletic trainer Julie Ramsey was not rehired by the College, causing quite a stir amongst students, and led to some students passing around a petition in protest. The Dining Services is under new management by Nick Stamos, who is working to improve the system. Anne Sturges, a freshman, has started a program for mentally disabled children in Carlisle. The women's basketball team made it to the Middle Atlantic Conference only to have their season end after a loss at the conference. Bo Hoppin and Kiki Jacobs of the swim team both qualified for Nationals at the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Students push for an Environmental Science major, but due to curriculum issues, it will not be offered at this time. The FBI have been searching United States libraries for potential Soviet agents. Members of the College community show disapproval over the sorority rush process, which some feel is too short and do not like how it is conducted. Stephanie D'Alessandro has created an entire exhibit in the Trout Gallery called, "An American View: From the Country to the City" about her experience of a semester in Bologna.

President-elect Dr. A. Lee Fritschler comments upon various areas of the College that he wants to improve once he becomes president. A memorial stained-glass window was installed in Bosler dedicated to the death of students Christine Major, '86 and John Buonocore, '87, as well as other Dickinsonians, faculty and students, who have passed away. The College acquired a limestone quarry in order to protect the supply and possibly use the stone for more buildings. Women's Tennis completed their season by becoming champions of the Southwest League of the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Former U.S. Commerce Secretary John T. Connor received the Benjamin Rush Award. Campus Activities Board (CAB) will have spent all their funds two months before spring break, but will still continue to host activities and events. The campus' Divestment Day will feature an address by Steven D. Lydenberg on the subject of investments. BACCHUS will be hosting a Northeast Regional Convention at the College. The Women's Swim Team placed second at the Middle Atlantic Conference and four female swimmers, Jamie McNeil, Liz Fitzgerald, Molly Dean, and Kiki Jacobs all qualified for Nationals.

The Public Affairs Symposium for the year is on, "Sport: Its Place in Society," that features appearances by sports figures such as Howard Cossell, Dr. Donna Lopiano, Dr. George Sheehan, and Dr. Harry Edwards. Students and faculty decide on the future of the now unsuccessful Nisbet Program. Students continue to debate against the raising of the college's tuition. Women's swimming team continues it victory streak. The men's Basketball team has had success at the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Dean of Educational Services, Leonard Goldberg, has announced his move to the University of Richmond. A rumor is cleared up that Phi Delta Theta's house will not be moved to Stuart Hall. Two faculty members boycotted a meeting to discuss divestment, Professors Nancy Mellerski and Thomas Zoumaras. The Volleyball team earned its first ever Mid Atlantic Conference bid.

A survey sent to each student by the "Committee for the Improvement of Student Life" and the results showed that students were disappointed in the social life, maintenance, and the dorm rooms. The geology and psychology buildings' renovations are to be complete by the fall. Students give their opinions on The Dickinsonian, Libya and the Student Senate budget vote. Three Men's Tennis players qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference: Scott Howlett, Mike Poss, and Dan Kotz.

Greek Week, sponsored by the College's Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils, will raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Women's Track and Field will compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Men's Soccer team has been fundraising for a four-week trip to Australia.

Duane Michals, a famous black and white photographer, speaks in the Weiss Center. Gamma Phi Beta did not receive enough interested rushees and had to forfeit their pledge class. A new fire alarm system that was installed in Morgan Hall has been waking student residents up on numerous occasions. The baseball team is only a few wins away from succeeding at the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The Board of Trustees in undecided on whether or not they are willing to help the College divest all or part of a $6 million worth of investments to South Africa. Alpha Chi Rho is in debt to the College $9, 945 due to a lease agreement where each fraternity member is supposed to pay a certain amount and if there are not enough members to fill all the spaces, the fraternity needs to come up with the extra money, and they have not for the past two semesters. Candidates for Student Senate are featured for the election.

The Interfraternity Council reviews who students should call first in an emergency, Campus Police or Carlisle Hospital. Newly formed group, the Coalition Against Apartheid, held its first meeting that drew a massive amount of people and were unable to fit in the meeting room. Women's Cross Country team placed second in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Men's Cross Country team placed 13th in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The library and computer center have been designing a library cataloging program, AUTOCAT, since 1982 and will be ready for use next year. Gamma Phi Beta sorority received their second President's Cup at Homecoming. The annual event, Songfest, was presented by Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) and Wheel and Chain and drew a huge crowd to ATS. An article focuses on the many roles and jobs of campus Resident Advisors. The Men's Cross Country team will participate in the Middle Atlantic Conference's invitational meet.

Tri-Delta or Delta Delta Delta has become Dickinson's sixth sorority. A group of academic professionals, headed by Nancy Mellerski, are set to examine the College's investments. BACCHUS (Boost Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students) is sponsoring Alcohol Awareness Week as part of a nationwide event. Beta Theta Pi's fraternity pole-sits for charity, Alpha Chi Rho raises money for Big-Little through a picnic and Kappa Alpha Theta raised funds for the American Cancer Society.

The Pew Memorial Trust is source of a recent grant that the College secured to help expand the College's computer system. The Panhellenic Council met last week to approve the formation of a fifth sorority. Boxers Ron Sing and Larry Russo will compete in the Eastern Conference Boxing Championship. In the Middle Atlantic Conference championship, the men's swim team took third place and the women's swim team took seventh. Oscar Leon wins a title in a table tennis tournament.

the Public Affairs Symposium's topic this year was "Human Rights" and the keynote speaker this year was Hodding Carter III, former Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs. Candidates for Student Senate are featured in an article. Dave Levitt studied abroad in various locations in the Far East for a semester and gives advice to readers. Dave Freysinger has become the new leading scorer for basketball. The Women's Basketball team has made Dickinson history by competing in the Middle Atlantic Conference's tournament.

Three fraternities, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Epsilon Pi volunteered to be relocated due to overenrollment at the College and state that it has not had a negative effect on fraternity life. The Student Senate Priorities Committee unanimously recommended that a student organization office be created inside the HUB and after the Senate's approval, administrative approval is then needed. The idea of an honor code is being analyzed by the Academic Affairs Committee. Women's volleyball earned themselves a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference tournament.

Faculty resolutions on 5-5-4-4 and reform of the grading system must be announced by the March 1971 faculty meeting. Professors state that the four track option will provide more flexibility to students. Alumni will donate to restore and renovate East College to be a humanities building. The Follies are resurrected after disbanding in 1968. Results of the Senate elections leave both Republicans and Democrats happy. Information on the Draft is published in a question and answer column. The college keeps pace with changing technology with The Learning Center.

Having surpassed its fund raising goal for trees, the Student Senate approved a motion to donate the excess funds to the Carlisle Shade Tree Commission. Organizers of the Harrisburg Urban Semester will be available to speak with interested students. Wheel and Chain and ODK will sponsor Songfest for Parents' Day. A Student Cooperative Store is being organized to sell new, used, and hand-made articles. Dr. A.L. Rowse, a renowned expert on Shakespeare, will speak at the College. The Mermaid Players will present the comedy "Enough Stupidity in Every Wise Man" by Ostrovsky.

Senate elects new members to IPR. The College will plant new trees to replace some of the ones that have been cut down and, once pedestrian traffic studies have been completed, install two new red lights. Spontaneous or short-notice marches will now be in violation of a new Carlisle Borough ordinance. Sargent Shriver, former American Ambassador to France and Former Director of the Peace Corps, came and spoke in support of Democratic congress candidates; specifically Arthur Berger.

The fourth annual Derby Day Steal sponsored by Sigma Chi kicked off Parents' weekend. Both East College and Bosler Hall had to put off renovation due to fund shortages. Tom Martin, president of the Student Senate, outlined the challenges that are to be faced by the student representative on a faculty committee. Suzanne Lail was elected president of the Women's Interdormitory Council. Dr. Alfred Levin and Dr. Stephen Coslett are proposing a speed reading class to the administration. A group of six geology students led by Professor H.W.

According to members of Dickinson's administration and the Carlisle community, town gown relations are improving. Professor Brubaker's freshman will present the 12th Annual freshman plays. The Interfraternity Council makes a statement that condemns the use of narcotics in fraternities. Robert Goldsand is set to perform at Carlisle Senior High School's auditorium. Several judicial bodies at Dickinson, including the SFJC (Student-Faculty Judicial Council), the SVHB (Student Violations Hearing Board), and WIC (Women's Interdormitory Council) delivered verdicts on cases.

A survey of the campus regarding the Vietnam War shows that most students and faculty want some sort of change in Vietnam policy. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band is set to play in the HUB Dining Hall for the Mid-Winter Concert. The Interfraternity Council set up an internal committee to coordinate service projects. Dickinsonian beats WDCV in annual football game. Arthur Hoppe analyzes the Bobby Kennedy campaign. Odetta Gordon is set to perform at the Carlisle Senior High Auditorium. Someone in Yale Library stacks has been biting and kissing unsuspecting women's feet.

Representatives from the Architects Collaborative plan to visit the campus Dec. 11-12 to interview students and begin planning for the new Fine Arts Center. US Congressman Edward Biester is slated to speak on law at College and Law School on Dec. 7. Dickinsonian to meet WDCV members in annual football game. Sigma Alpha Epsilon began its annual forum on Wednesday. A campus poll finds Rockefeller in the lead for the nomination for the 1968 presidential election. A mock national convention of GOP presidential candidates has been planned for April of the following year.
