Juniors will be allowed to take classes at the Law School. Letters given out to 11 men, including 9 Freshmen. President Waugh puts forth a plan to delay rushing before the Interfraternity Council. The Student Social Committee has finished its report on social rules at Dickinson and it will be considered at the next meeting of this committee and the Faculty Social Committee. Parents are especially invited to visit on Mother's Day. More work is put into the plans and preparations of the pageant celebrating the Sesquicentennial. Eligibility for awarding Varsity Letters is modified. The Men's Senate decides that elections for the senate will be held in a modified form of the traditional methods, despite all of the criticism students have given this process.

Dickinson's Men's Basketball team defeated by Mount St. Mary. Students elect new Athletic Association officers. Someone stole medicine from the infirmary. Sigma Tau Phi is currently winning the Interfraternity Basketball Series. Students perform "The Haunted House" mystery play. President Waugh showed off his dance skills at the Skull and Key Ball. The football team finds a new coach who signs a three year contract. Founders' Day celebrations begin this day. The senior picnic is planned for the following Monday where many athletic events will take place. Two men's literary societies, Belles Lettres and the Union Philosophical Society, see their organizations losing membership and seek aid from the college administration to keep their clubs alive. Dickinson College is to be represented in the American Association of University Women's Founders' Book.  The Union Philosophical Society and Belles Lettres Society continue their  "stunt" of selective rushing.  Professor Benjamin Wilbur Folsom takes charge of the Dickinson Debate Council.  Studies on student ill-adjustment to higher education are made by the Joint Committee of the Association of Pennsylvania Presidents, the Pennsylvania State Department of Public Instruction, and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.  The student body enjoys thei

The All-College Social committee has changed the date of the college picnic, much to the chagrin of the students.  The Senior Blazer committee calls upon seniors to be measured for their jackets.  New rules lightening the strict regulations regarding social privileges and required classes for coeds at Metzger Hall are proposed by Dean Josephine B. Meredith and enacted by a 75% vote.  The Union Philosophical Society will select its candidates from among the new freshmen class.

The Dickinsonian begins its 56th year of publication, noting its roots as a literary magazine under the Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Literary societies.  Mervin Grant Filler is elected 18th president of the college, filling the vacancy of the newly resigned Dr. James Henry Morgan, while Professor Montgomery Porter Sellers takes deanship.  William Trickett, who served as Dean of the Law School for 38 years, dies of influenza.  Metzger Hall is modernized, both inside and out.  The football team prepares to start their season with scrimmages on Biddle Field.

The theme for the first annual student conference of Eastern Pennsylvania Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. is "Jesus: What is His part in my life?". The Dramatic Club will present two one-act plays--The Goose With the Golden Egg, with an all-freshman cast, and Mr. X, featuring an all-sophomore cast. The Y.W.C.A. and Women's Senate will host the annual Doll Show. The Chemistry department praises the collections held in the Scientific Museum in Tome. Impressionist William S. Battis will portray classic Dickens characters. The basketball season will open with a match against Princeton.

The Alumni Council holds their annual banquet with Boyd Lee Spahr as keynote speaker. A statistic study of the freshman class indicates that half of the members are either Presbyterian or Methodist. The Debate Club announces the subjects for intercollegiate debate this year. The Pelletier-Shakespeare company will present a group of Shakespearean tragedies. The freshman cast for The Goose with the Golden Egg is chosen. The College hosted many enthusiastic alumni this past Homecoming weekend.

The Union Philosophical Society will award the Commencement speaker, Secretary of Interior Douglas McKay, the first Union Philosophical Society Award since its rejuvenation. The Union Philosophical Society will host the Intercollegiate Conference on Government's Central Regional Convention. York Barbel Company to give a weightlifting exhibition in the Alumni Gym. Dr. Paul Rufus Burkholder receives the Dickinson College Priestley Award. Dr. William F. Hufstader presents a gift to fund a College theater.

Junior class, Class of 1943, elects president. Student Senate decides that Rushing will not occur during the summer session. the 169th Commencement. Approximately 120 students are enrolled for the summer session. the 1942 Microcosm comes out on time. Six high school seniors are awarded Trustee scholarships. Lambda Sigma Pi elects eight new members. Union Philosophical Society to discuss "war aims" in their next meeting. A Student Opinion Surveys of America poll reveals that three of every five women are volunteering with civilian defense activities, but less than three of ten men, not already in the Armed Services, are helping with defense duties. Mid-Winter Ball was attended by 130 couples or 260 students. Three seniors elected to join Phi Beta Kappa.

Dickinson football won against Susquehanna last weekend and will face Gettysburg this coming weekend. Petition presented with 450 signatures at the beginning of Chapel about giving athletic scholarships to students--this was the result of built up tensions. Improvements to be made to Conway Hall. Editorial remembers the college band of two years ago, bemoaning the current status of the band and encourages the band to rediscover this previous life, energy and precision. Metzger Hall will revise its constitution in the coming year. Wheel and Chain continues its book drive for the Negro Community Center in Carlisle that formally opened on October 26. New mandatory class, "How to Make Good in College," created for Freshmen. Nation wide poll discovered that most American college students are opposed to changing the Neutrality Law to allow supply ships to be armed to enter war zones. Committee recommends that college end its policy on extra-curricular activities requiring participation with limits on number of activities as student may participate with. The thirty-one students arrested last week have each been ordered to pay a fine of $1.62. Dickinson's first all-college choir is created. Sororities gain new members as bids were accepted. The Dickinsonian will be involved in a nation-wide Student Opinion Surveys of America which will try to compile data on student's opinions (the first question will be "Are you for or against changing the neutrality laws so that American ships may be armed and sent into war zones?"). Reading periods created in each course to allow students the opportunity for more independent research. Thirty-one undergraduate men arrested during a celebratory march to Metzger Hall. A mixed recreational swimming is being planned.

Over one hundred delegates from the member papers of the Intercollegiate Newspaper Association gather at Dickinson for the Spring Convention of the organization, recognizing its 20th Anniversary.  500 attend concert by Dickinson College Symphony Orchestra.  Dr. Wilbur V.
