Recipients of the Cogan Fellowship returned to Dickinson on February 26 and 27 to discuss their career paths. The Office of Residential Life distributed a packet to students detailing the changed housing selection process. Rami Khouri and Ilan Peleg debated in the "Prospects for Israeli-Palestinian Reconciliation" event which took place on March 1. The debate gave the impression that reconciliation between Israel and Palestine was not far away. The student senate discussed changes in Greek life on February 27th.

Phi Kappa Sigma banned from Townhouses after damages incurred by them throughout semester. Amnesty International reorganizes on campus amid student interest, College faculty and financial support. 90% of reported violent behavior alcohol based, impels new policies encouraging activities alternative to drinking. Harrisburg Urban Semester discontinued indefinitely while Central Pennsylvania Consortium reviews program. Student senate officers have been elected, and by a large margin. The Central Pennsylvania Consortium and the Dickinson's Commission on the Status of Women held a conference on "Women's Point of View." An article discusses why Americans are "infatuated with fitness." The Cultural Affairs sponsored a performance by Will Stutts' of Walt Whitman that was successful.

200th Anniversary Committee created to plan bicentennial celebration of college. Aquacade, Dickinson's synchronized-swimming group, begins activities. Flying Burrito Brothers "produce good sounds" in last weekend's concert. Hamilton Restaurant reviewed in reprint of "Those Hog Ridin' Fools". The Central Pennsylvania Consortium launches semester program in Medellin, Colombia.

The Board of Trustees focuses on revising the budget and making cuts. A fundraiser will be held to collect $2000 for tree replacement. Students meet with Dean Hawkins to discuss problems of freshmen. The campus will host a state conference on environmental issues to be presented to the governor. Sigma Chi moves into first place in IF Football. The Red Devils win the Second Annual Dickinson Invitational Golf Tournament by four strokes from defending champion Gettysburg.

Senate elects new members to IPR. The College will plant new trees to replace some of the ones that have been cut down and, once pedestrian traffic studies have been completed, install two new red lights. Spontaneous or short-notice marches will now be in violation of a new Carlisle Borough ordinance. Sargent Shriver, former American Ambassador to France and Former Director of the Peace Corps, came and spoke in support of Democratic congress candidates; specifically Arthur Berger.

In this "experimental" magazine-type issue, an opening essay urges the college to build a "firmer relationship" with the community. It is reported that Tony Marcson's call to boycott Carlisle business has been unsuccessful. Parents' Day reveals "communication gap" between parents and students "symbolizing different perspectives and understandings." A "Vietnam Graduation" to be held in honor of draft-resisting seniors. The Central Pennsylvania Consortium, made up of Dickinson and three nearby liberal-arts colleges, is involved in planning an urban studies center in Harrisburg.

A review of Commencement is given. Dr. Daniel R. Bechtel, chairman of the department of religion, receives the 1970 Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Horace E. Rogers , senior member of the College faculty and the Alfred Victor duPont Professor of Analytical Chemistry, is elected president of the Dickinson chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The Red Cross campaigns to assist American POWs.

The Policy Committee will present two resolutions to faculty at their next meeting: 1. The ROTC will be abolished on campus. 2. No academic credit will be granted for courses in the ROTC program. Student Senate invalidated the election results for the Institutional Priorities and Resources Committee due to unclear ballots. Elections are held by Student Senate for multiple committees. Two professors and six students attend the Soviet-American Peace Convocation. The Pa Consortium will sponsor the Summer Transition Program again.

Student Senate has been very busy in an attempt to clear its agenda before next week's discussion of housing--approving a change in registration, endorsing a proposal to revise the grading system, redefining fraternities, and setting the date of all-college elections. The Ad-Hoc subcommittee on ROTC continues to meet to negotiate its contract negotiations with the US Army and faculty. Members of the Central Pennsylvania Consortium meet to plan the summer transition program.

Student Senate proposes that student representation be introduced on the President's Advisory Council. The resolution charging WDCV of falsification of accounts and misuse of funds was withdrawn after further investigation. For the first time since the founding of Dickinson, students sat down with the board of trustees to discuss campus concerns. The Summer Transition Program has been evaluated to the conclusion that the program will continue with suggested improvements.
