Philanthropist and financial donor, Mary Louise D'Olier Shuman passed away recently in Carlisle. Residence halls are equipped for cable and internet. Associate Professor of Classical Studies, Mary Moser passed away over the summer in Carlisle. Professor of Comparative Civilizations, Vytautas Kavolis passed away over the summer while conducting research in Lithuania. The Clarke Center is bringing the 3rd Annual Pennsylvania Environmental Congress to the Dickinson campus. Article describing the Convocation ceremony. Dr. Noah B. Rosenberger joins the faculty to replace Dr. Landis as head of the math department while he is away. Milton W. Eddy is elected professor of biology. Matriculation. YMCA and YWCA give annual reception for freshmen. Professor William A. Baumgartner joins faculty as Bible professor. Karl Shedd joins faculty as associate professor of romance language. Herbert L. Professors William W. Landis, Wilbur H. Norcross, and Craver return to the college after being absent.  Professors Battenhouse and M. A. In less than a year, the First in America Capital Campaign launched by President William Durden raises over half of its target goal. The class of 2007 says goodbye to Dickinson.

Rushing activities for women's fraternities end as freshman girls and fraternities hand in pledges to Pan-Hellenic Council.  Belles Lettres Society begins its 152nd year of existence at Dickinson with October meeting.  John Burton Nicholson, Jr., accepts position as assistant librarian.  Mathematics Professor Frank Ayres, Jr., obtains a Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago.  Howard A.

Select Committee proposes major changes to Greek Life in regard to housing and length of the rushing and pledging periods. Freshman injured on crosswalk outside of HUB. Maryland Congresswoman speaks at convocation, receives honorary degree. Biddle House basement is deemed an unsuitable living space and several members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are forced to move out. Class of 1993 is second only to that of 1988 in size. Biddle Field track is resurfaced.

Dickinson College is the recipient of the $250,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation. New security system added to Boyd Lee Spahr Library to prevent theft of books. Dickinsonian is awarded All-American status by the National Scholastic Press Association and the Associated College Press. Orientation activities take place. Convocation held for the first time in newly constructed Kline Center. Sally Porter hired as Dickinson's first female campus police officer. Sellers House converted into residence building. 379 W. Louther St. and 152 S. Pitt St. are purchased by the College for housing.

Pres. Sam Banks presides at his first convocation. Banks' inauguration to feature "numerous dignitaries" who will honor President. Alumnus Edward Shirk is part of important possible physics discovery.

A salary raise received by College Treasurer John Woltjen draws stark criticism from faculty. Cannonball Adderly will give a concert Sept. 20th with music being a mix of jazz and soul. President Rubendall greets the incoming freshman class and stresses honesty at the 202nd Convocation. Registrar Paul Anderson will leave the College after five years of service. President Rubendall announces personnel shifts: John Woltjen, formally business manager and treasurer will now be treasurer, Barry Gaal will be business manager, and Robert Belyea will be comptroller.

New campaign begins for building program. Walter Carringer to open Cultural Affairs series. Judith Rogers reports on the Crossroads Africa Program. President Rubendall officially declares the school year open with article describing the atmosphere of Dickinson and what students can do to contribute to it. Analysis of Spring 1963 grades. Student Senate announces new student book exchange program and new committee room in Denny Hall. New art professor, George Tomko, introduced. Republican State Chairman Craig Truax spoke at the Young Republican kickoff rally.

College President Howard L. Rubendall opens 1964-1965 academic year at 192nd opening convocation. The complete text of his address is included in this issue. New student center opens. Students are "amazed" despite incomplete facilities. Rush regulations are reviewed. The freshman class is the largest in the history of the school with 452 freshman from 23 states and 6 foreign countries. An article gives advice to incoming freshman. A series of chapels is announced with the theme "Reflections on Freedom." The issue contains two pages of photos documenting recent changes in the campus.
