Student Senate creates budget with large cuts to student organizations and a restructuring of the Microcosm's financing. Dickinson Club of West Branch Valley (alumni club near Williamsport) is founded.

Six freshmen are punished for violating the Freshman Rules and neglecting other duties. A sophomore studies a local cave and disproves several local myths. The college begins to offer courses aimed at educating Sunday School teachers. An article talks about how much money the Senate spent on small trinkets and rewards for students. The football team ties with Ursinus. The Women’s Senate calls for an all-College Senate to solve the issue of the Men’s Senate making decisions for everyone on campus.

Student Senate stops delegation on the election of officers until the following academic year, focusing instead on the budget and changes to the freshman rules. Religious leader and author Henry Emerson Fosdick is announced as the commencement speaker. The first all-student art exhibit is set to open. Skull and Key taps nine men for the 1948-1949 school year. The thief who ransacked the women's dormitory in East College was captured in Maryland.

Eighty students are to be honored at the annual "A" banquet, given each year to recognize those students receiving an overall A average during either semester in the year preceding the banquet. A new president and executive board of the Student Athletic Association is elected. Music critic and composer Dr. Sigmund Spaeth will present a lecture. Three speakers for the college's 175th anniversary celebration are announced. The Student Senate fund investigation ends and the budget for the 1948-1949 school year is announced.

Dean of Students Russel I. Thompson declares that no exams will be given on the day after major dances. An exhibit of American Folk art is held in Bosler Hall. The psychology department begins offering career aptitude examinations to students. The student senate president calls for an inquiry into funding provided to campus clubs and organizations. The freshman team wins the volleyball tournament undefeated.

Actress Julie Harris came to Dickinson to receive the Dickinson College Arts Award at the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium on April 9th. The Dickinson College Physical Plant and the Student Senate Grievance Committee made changes in their student service policies in attempt to improve their service quality and efficiency. At a press conference on April 19th, officials from the Washington Redskins and Dickinson College announced that the Redskins would be practicing at Dickinson for summer training camp. Members of Dickinson's sorority community hosted a Carlisle Community Easter egg hunt.

Required chemistry labs 131 and 132 are combined into a new more hands-on approach in Chemistry 141-foundations of chemistry. The Affirmative Action Officer updates the college's discrimination policy by changing the wording of prohibition of discrimination based on "gender" to discrimination based on "sex" and also adding the probation of discrimination due to "sexual orientation." Student Senate finds a bank error in their favor, collecting $40,000. On Sunday the 24th, a glass Coke bottle filled with tobacco "juice" shatters, spilling onto and damaging multiple books in the library.

Student Senate faces a deficit of over $30,000 due to a book keeping error. Native American couple Archie and Ramona Mason, from the Osage and Mvskoke tribes respectively, present "Images of a People: A Presentation of native American Life" discussing their cross-cultural marriage. The Woman's Center holds multiple activities in conjunction with Rape Awareness Week. A survey reveals new statistics about rape both on and off campus. The Faculty Personnel Committee will not allow romantic relationships between students and faculty.

Borges' scholars from across the country gather to participate witness and participate in Jorge Luis Borges' three-day Symposium at Dickinson. Joan Hoff Wilson delivered a speech on Tuesday evening regarding Watergate and its aftermath. EFFORT, or "Equality for Females: Our Rights Today," hosted the Second Annual Women's Party in an attempt to establish unity among women on campus. Dr. Kenneth Short discussed British propaganda films as a way of eliciting an Anglo-American alliance during World War II.

Controversy surrounds the Finance Committee's budget for the fraternities and sororities for the 1988-89 school year, and several anonymous threatening letters were sent to members of the Finance Committee. Beta Theta Pi reversed their decision to withdraw from the Inter-Fraternity Council due to conflicts between the fraternity and the council, among other reasons. Freshman Dennis Albertson established a "national service fraternity" called Alpha Phi Omega and will be co-ed and open to both Greeks and Independents.

The Student Senate passed the 1984-85 budget amid much questioning with amendments proposed by the Outing Club, Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) and Paul Sharpe. The only amendment passed was that requested by the Outing Club. The Spring Concert featuring Stevie Ray Vaughan is canceled due to lack of ticket sales. Junior Diana Miller presents a project on eyewitness reliability at the Eastern Psychological Association convention. The CIA push for recruitment of college students meets student protests. Five women produce a Men Of Dickinson Calendar to sell.

College Presidential candidate Samuel A Banks visits the College again. The Mermaid Players' final production of the year will be the 18th century English comedy The Clandestine Marriage. The Office of Student Services opens its miniweek program on Death and Dying with a panel discussion on death and religion. The Committee for Social Alternatives plan more activities for the upcoming year. Student Senate revises its fall budget. The Basketball team suffers two losses.
